PRIME MINISTER HON. KASSIM MAJALIWA ANSWERS DIRECT QUESTIONS IN PARLIAMENT ON 3RD MAY 2018.The government has once again warned officials of the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) who have the tendency of imposing inflated tax rates to innocent traders in the country. Prime Minister Kassim Majaliwa has issued a warning last week in Parliament when answering a question directed to him by Tunduma legislator on Chadema ticket Hon. Frank Mwakanjoka. The legislator wanted to know how has the government tried to stop the habit by some TRA officials who use bad languages and threats to traders when consulting them for taxation. The PM has directed TRA to honour their specialization and professionalism and work diligently without causing any harassment to their customers. He said that, the government would not tolerate any bad behaviors shown by some unscrupulous officials who does not follow correct channels of the work rules. In view of this, the PM has directed all traders who are harassed to report their fates to the higher authorities concerned so that legal measures should be taken immediately. The PM gave an example of what happened in Lindi recently whereby some TRA officials were sacked from job after having been found to have fraudulently committed a mistake which is a violation of work rules. The Premier noted that, the government would continue respecting traders and investors in the country for their work and investments they have made so far in the country.
