Pakistan Cricket Board(PCB)Suspends Pakistan pacer Mohammad Irfan for violating its anti-corruption code

Pakistan pacer Mohammad Irfan has been suspended by the PCB for violating its anti-corruption code during the recently concluded Pakistan Super League.

The PCB issued a statement which stated that the pacer was issued a Notice of Charge under the PCB’s anti-corruption code. A PCB spokesperson has confirmed that he violated code article 2.4.4 which is a result of failure to disclose details of any approach to engage in corrupt practices.

“Irfan has been charged with two violations of Code Article 2.4.4 and now has 14 days to respond to the Notice of Charge,” a PCB spokesman said.

The PCB's anti-corruption code 2.4.4 says: "Failing to disclose to the PCB Vigilance and Security Department (without unnecessary delay) full details of any approaches or invitations received by the Participant to engage in Corrupt Conduct under this Anti-Corruption Code.”

Irfan has been suspended from participating in any cricket related activity with immediate effect

“PCB’s investigation will continue with regard to any questionable activity by any player and player support personnel as it carries on with its mission of eliminating the menace of corruption from cricket,” the PCB said in a press release.

Earlier, Irfan had appeared before the Anti-Corruption Unit where he admitted to have been contacted by bookies during this year's PSL.
